ABOUT

Founded in 1998 with the simple intent to teach local kids in the New York metro area hi-level fundamentals of the game, jdBASKETBALL has evolved into a global enterprise that has operated in eight countries, on three continents and has touched over 18,000+ lives–and counting. The basketball training methods developed by founder JD Walsh have been implemented by prep, collegiate, and professional players and coaches worldwide.

Celebrities including NBA and former NBA and WNBA players Allan Houston, Troy Murphy, WeiPing Zhang, Smush Parker, Shay Doron, Mike James, Speedy Claxton, Sandra VanEmbricq, Jerome Williams, Danny Green, and Jim Todd have each visited a jdBASKETBALL program.

For the past three years, jdBASKETBALL has operated throughout India to grow and promote the game.

The mission has expanded to promote social change. jdBASKETBALL comes together with multi-national corporations, governments, and regional social educators to create game changing programs that deliver results. jdBASKETBALL has received funding from the US Department of State as a “sports diplomat” and has received endorsement in US Senate Hearings on Foreign Policy by Richard Armitage (to VP, Joe Biden) as an example of ‘Soft Power’ diplomacy.

jdBASKETBALL has worked with various NGO’s  such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters NYC and Sulha (Israel) and won numerous awards, including the 2008 Ashoka Nike Changemaker award for his work with CHINAR and orphan youth in Kashmir. In 2009 and 2010,  jdBASKETBALL co-partnered with George Mason University to win a US Department State International Sports Programming Initiative, a two-year grant to promote cross cultural goodwill and ambassadorship between the US and India. The Ambassador Timothy Roemer made appearance at jdBASKETBALL – US Department of State program at the New Delhi YMCA.

In short, we teach better basketball to the masses and use the game to communicate, grow communities, and promote world peace.

Working the gamut of humanity, jdBASKETBALL has proven worldwide — a true dialogue for mankind.
